Geophysical prospection data at the archaeological site of Kleidi/Samikon (Greece)
The present dataset comprises three different geophysical methods that were performed in 2021 and 2023 at Kleidi/Samikon ( 21.59224°E ,37.53001°N) in the Framework of a geoarchaeological research project searching for the ancient sanctuary of Poseidon at the site. Datasets are: Frequency domain electromagnetic induction (CMD-Explorer by GF-instruments, in HCP mode, carried 1m above surface, 10Hz sampling, RTK-DGPS data was collected using a Stonex S9i). The data is available as processed, binned geotiff EPSG 32634 (cond1-cond3 and IP4-IP6 referring to quadrature(apparent conductivity) and inphase component of the increasing coil distances). The binned dataset was inverted for each bin in 1D resulting in a pseudo 3D cube, saved as standard vtk-file. Raw data is provided as ascii-file (.dat files) Magnetic Gradiometry data using an array of six Foerster Fluxgate gradiometers (sampling 20Hz), positioning with Stonex S9i RTK-DGPS. The data is provided as binned geotiff EPSG 32634 Electrical resistivity tomography profile SAM ERT 17, measured with a syscal R1+switch 48, with 48 electrodes. Measurements were done in Wenner‐Schlumberger configuration. The subsequent least squares inversion was
accomplished using the RES2DINV (Loke and Barker (1996)) software, involving iterations until a final absolute error of 2.2 Ωm. For the inversion,
an initial damping factor of 0.1 and a minimum damping factor of 0.03 was used. The root mean square (RMS) convergence limit was set to 5 %. Data is provided as .INV ascii format comprising electrode positions and elevations on profile and apparent resistivity values. Absolute electrode positions are attached as shape-file (ERT17.shp).
