Supplement 1 – Hunter-Fisher Burial Sites of the Forest East European Plain – Dataset

This supplement contains the complete dataset of burial assemblages, human osteological remains and associated burial features from the sites included in the analyses presented in this dissertation. It also provides an explanation of the abbreviations and acronyms used in the multiple factor analysis.

Supplement 2 – Description of Sources

This supplement provides a complete list of the sources on which Supplement 1 is based, including published literature, archival records, archaeological collections and personal communication.

Supplement 3 – Data Reliability and Chronological Framework

This supplement presents an evaluation of data quality and chronological reliability for the burial contexts included in the analysis, following the criteria outlined in Chapter 5. It also explains the rationale for the chronological assignment of burials and associated features to specific time-slices.

In addition, the supplement includes the following tables: Comparative characteristics of Early–Middle Mesolithic burial practices in the northwest East European Plain (based on the sites with preserved human remains); Overview of key transformations in burial rituals and associated sites; and Possible factors influencing the three mortuary transformations.

Supplement 4 – Additional Figures

This supplement contains visual materials not included in the main text, such as additional figures, charts and plots.
